BATON ROUGE, La. — Secretary of State Nancy Landry reminds voters that the final deadline to register to vote in the June 27 Second Party Primary and Spring Municipal General Election is quickly approaching. The deadline to register through the GeauxVote Online Registration System is Saturday, June 6. This deadline is for citizens who have never registered to vote, as well as voters who would like to make changes to their registration.

Citizens may check their registration or register to vote online at www.GeauxVote.com. After registering, voters should download the free GeauxVote Mobile smartphone app. The app provides registration information as well as voting districts, sample ballots, polling place information, and election results.

Early voting for the June 27 election will take place Friday, June 12 through Saturday, June 20 (excluding Sunday, June 14 and Friday, June 19, which is a state holiday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry is asking members of the public to sign up to work as Election Day poll commissioners for the 2^nd Party Primary on June 27 and the U.S. Senate General and Open Primary Election on Nov. 3. 

Louisiana needs more election workers to ensure that all of the state’s Election Day voting precincts operate without interruption or delay. Commissioners can earn up to $200, and commissioners-in-charge can earn up to $350, depending on certification level and number of precinct assignments.

Election Day poll commissioners must be:

• A registered voter in Louisiana
• Attend a 1-2 hour training course
• At least 17 years old and a high school senior or older
• Work the entire election day (6 a.m. – 8 p.m.), arriving at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before polls open and remaining until everything is finalized after polls close. You are unable to leave the precinct during your shift.

“Poll commissioners are the backbone of Louisiana’s election process,” said Secretary Landry. “Their commitment helps ensure voters have a smooth experience at the polls and that elections are conducted with integrity. We are looking for individuals who want to serve their communities, support the democratic process, and earn extra income while playing an important role on Election Day.”

Prospective election workers must return their completed applications to their parish Clerk of Court’s office. Applicants will then be contacted with the next steps in the process. More information about qualifications and training is available on the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website.

STATEMENT ON MAY 16 ELECTION NIGHT TURNOUT DATA

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office is advising the public and members of the media that voter turnout percentages for the Saturday, May 16 election will not be immediately available following the close of polls.

Election results will continue to be reported election night as normal. Only voter turnout percentages will be delayed.

Under normal circumstances, voter turnout information is viewable almost immediately after polls close in real time on GeauxVote.com. However, recent changes to Louisiana’s closed party primary system, enacted by the 2024 Legislature, have created additional reporting steps that will temporarily delay turnout reporting.

With Louisiana’s new closed party primary system, voters registered as No Party may choose to participate in the Democratic primary, the Republican primary, or not participate in a closed party primary race.

Because of this, all parish registrars of voters must complete their work in giving each voter credit for voting in the election, identifying which ballot choice each No Party voter made. This may take up to two weeks to process those ballot choices.

All election results and turnout information will continue to be made available through GeauxVote.com as information is finalized and verified.
