National Weather Service Forecast Tangipahoa River at Robert at Major Flood Stage

Amite, LA – The National Weather Service has released a forecast for the Tangipahoa River at Robert to be at 21 feet, which is at major flood stage.

Historical data shows that the Tangipahoa River at this stage will be flowing into homes along Highway 445 and Highway 443.

Hwy 445 will be underwater and closed from Highway 190 to Interstate 12. Louisiana Highway 22 will be underwater in many places. Access to Magnolia Island and Lee’s Landing will be cut off as well. The river will crest sometime on Friday evening, June 19, and will remain through Monday, June 22.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller urges residents in these areas to make the necessary preparations during this time.
